Fibromyalgia is known for causing widespread pain throughout the body that is often accompanied by fatigue. Patients may have to suffer as they wait for a diagnosis as many other conditions with similar symptoms have to be ruled out first. This can also create a financial burden as people are willing to undergo a battery of tests to find out what is the underlying cause of their pain.
While fibromyalgia is little understood, what is agreed upon is that the pain signals that travel from the body to the brain are amplified for some reason, causing the brain to feel pain when, in fact, there is little or no pain. Most turn to prescription medications for relief of individual symptoms. Some of these work by blocking the nerves from sending pain signals.
The brainstem has the responsibility of sending signals to and from the brain and body as it is the connection between the brain and the spinal cord. If a misalignment is present in the C1 or C2 vertebra, these messages may become hindered. This means that one is no longer able to process pain signals properly. This may be one reason for the symptoms of fibromyalgia.
Finding Long-Term Help for Fibromyalgia
At Synergy Chiropractic, we focus on finding these misalignments using the latest diagnostic technology. Once we pinpoint the exact location of the problem, we can work with our patients to fix it. To do this, we use a gentle method that helps the bones move back into place in a more natural way. We do not pop or crack the spine in order to accomplish this. Adjustments are only given when necessary. Once the misalignment is fixed, communication and proper blood flow can be restored throughout the body. The nervous system can function at its optimum, and this may lead to a decrease in or a resolution of fibromyalgia.
