Is There a Natural Solution to Meniere’s Disease?
Someone that has been diagnosed with Meniere’s disease will admit that is it a very difficult disease to live with. Things they once enjoyed and that others seem to love doing, can now bring them much agony. So, what exactly is Meniere’s?
Symptoms of Meniere’s
Meniere’s disease has to do with the fluid of the inner ear. This fluid plays a crucial role in balance and proprioception (knowing where the body is positioned). If this is not functioning properly, Meniere’s can be the result. It affects both males and females, generally during the ages of 20 – 50 years old. If you have the following symptoms, you may be suffering from Meniere’s.
- Feeling nauseous, even to the point of vomiting
- Vertigo or dizziness
- Hearing loss
- Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
- A feeling of fullness in the ears
Treatment for Meniere’s
There are many theories out there as to how to treat Meniere’s. Some recommend diet changes, some look to invasive surgery, and some find relief in seeking out the care of an upper cervical chiropractor. While the first two suggestions are unreliable in their success, the last suggestion has seen proven, positive results.
How Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care Helps
A link has been discovered between Meniere’s and the upper neck. A misalignment in the C1 or C2 vertebrae, which are the top two bones in the neck, can be the root cause of this disease. A study was performed involving 139 patients complaining of symptoms of Meniere’s. After they had received one or two adjustments from an upper cervical chiropractor, 136 of them reported feeling fewer symptoms.
Upper cervical chiropractors use special tools and techniques to find out if a patient actually has a misalignment. A treatment plan is then made to address the specific misalignment. Correction is only given when absolutely necessary. When this correction is given, the body begins to function properly once again. This may lead to the symptoms of Meniere’s easing up or even going away altogether.
