Why is that the case? A research group used an upright MRI to identify the answers. Let’s take a closer look at a case study, the MRI research, and a way to help relieve migraine symptoms naturally.

A Migraine Case Study

The study involved a 54-year-old woman suffering from vertigo, migraines, and neck pain. Symptoms began after a motor vehicle accident. Ten years after the onset of symptoms she sought the care of an upper cervical chiropractor. All symptoms were corrected after just one adjustment.

How an MRI Revealed the Potential Cause of Migraines

The inventor of the MRI, Dr. Raymond Damadian, used it to research the effects of upper cervical subluxations. When the C1 and C2 vertebrae are misaligned, it can affect the proper drainage of cerebrospinal fluid from the brain. As a result, this vital fluid pools, increases intracranial pressure, and can lead to symptoms like migraines. The inhibited drainage could be observed with an upright MRI. When the subluxation was corrected by an upper cervical chiropractor, proper cerebrospinal fluid drainage was resumed, and the pressure was relieved.

How Upper Cervical Chiropractic Helps with Vertigo

If a person is suffering from migraines, especially if there is head or neck trauma in the patient’s history, upper cervical chiropractic care is highly recommended. Even a very slight misalignment caused by the accident or injury could lead to cerebrospinal fluid flow issues which may be contributing to symptoms. By correcting the misalignment one may be able to start on the path to drug-free relief, perhaps right from the first visit as was noted in the case study above.
